She is a Commerce Graduate from the M S University of Vadodara and ever since November 1981 is employed with Central Excise & Customs Dept. in Gujarat and is presently working as a Superintendent. In addition to her awesome singing profile during her school & college days Vatsala was a bright sporty youngster dribbling around the Hockey stick and engaged herself in to serious play at a young age of 15 years. She participated in various State, National and International tournaments. Her game has left a deep & nostalgia imprint in the minds of sports lovers and women aspirants for hockey. She led the Gujarat State Hockey seven times.
Music dwells in her blood blended with the Gujarati language and culture. She is one of the most popular and successful folk singer from the State of Gujarat, India. She has sung about 8000 songs in total and a majority are the folk albums. Her depth in Music and love for it in her heart is truly depicted in her voice. When she sings a folk song she gets her self devoted to it in totality and her listeners can not miss he devotion and versatility.
With the mission to promote Gujarati folk music in other countries of the world, she has performed in a several countries including USA, UK, Oman and Hongkong and her performances have been chart busters.
Vatsala has been a playback singer for more than 80 Gujarati films and has received the best Playback Singer’s award for her song in the film Vichhudo. She has extended her string of awards by recently achieving the best playback singer’s 7 award 2010 for her song in the Gujarati movie Vichhudo, Nadie Nahva Gai Ti, Badiyabapji, Sajan ne Sathware. She has performed in a
numbers of shows all telecasted by GTV, ETV, Doordarshan, DD2.
